As a Patient Safety Associate, you will be working primarily in the Emergency Department but can be utilized throughout the hospital. Located in Susanville in northeast California, Banner Lassen Medical Center offers comprehensive care in a state-of-the-art facility to aid in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses. Our 25-bed medical center has a proud history of providing vital caring to the community since 1883. Though we are a small community hospital, we have invested in the latest medical equipment, including a 124-slice CT scanner, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound, bone density and mammography. The hospital also offers infusion, respiratory therapy and cardiopulmonary services as well as laboratory services, inpatient and outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Away from work, you'll find that our location at the foot of the scenic Sierra Nevada Mountains offers an unlimited variety of recreational activities, including fishing, camping, golfing, hiking and skiing.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides oversight to a patient or a group of patients. This position is responsible to communicate with the Registered Nurse (RN) upon arrival, departure and as appropriate throughout the shift. The RN will provide instruction to this position as to the expectations and any pertinent patient information. Will ensure the environment is safe and secure at all times. Is aware of the patient’s code status and pertinent restrictions and report any issues or concerns to the RN.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Follows a plan communicated by the RN when providing support services to patients.
2. Communicates the services provided to the patient with the supervisor/Registered Nurse.
3. Communicates changes in the patient’s condition, environment or situation to the RN.
4. May practice de-escalation techniques and intervene early with approved diversional activities
5. This position is accountable to provide observation, diversion, and communication to ensure a safe environment. The position is responsible for providing excellent customer service to a variety of internal and external customers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. BLS certification is required within 30 days of start date. Mandatory safety, hazardous materials, and infection control in-services will be included in orientation and required on a periodic basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
