Banner Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian to join the Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplant & Mechanical Circulatory Support team at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. This position offers excellent work-life balance with Monday through Friday hours, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (some start/end times may vary based on patient care), with no weekends or holidays required. As part of the multidisciplinary transplant team, you will provide comprehensive nutrition services and education to patients with: advanced heart failure, pre/post heart transplantation, and pre/post mechanical circulatory support device (Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) or Total Artificial Heart (TAH) devices) implantation.
In this role, you will conduct nutritional assessments and nutrition-focused physical exams, develop and manage individualized nutrition care plans, provide patient and family education, perform frailty screenings and contribute to optimization of patient clinical status. You will work closely with medical providers, nursing staff, coordinators, pharmacists, therapy teams, bariatrics, and the culinary department. Additional programmatic involvement may include developing nutrition standards of practice and educational materials, and participating in quality improvement activities. This position also offers opportunities to participate in research initiatives that advance nutritional care in these patient groups.
The ideal candidate will have cardiac experience, with heart failure and/or transplant experience highly preferred. Strong patient education and assessment skills are essential, along with excellent communication and collaboration abilities. This position requires a team player who can work independently while serving as a mentor and resource to staff and the broader healthcare team.
