As an RN Faculty team member, you will oversee NJC students in first year clinicals. Two years of med/surg experience in nursing is preferred for this position. This is a part time role, Monday and Tuesday from 8AM - 4PM.
Since 1938, Sterling Regional MedCenter has been the center of healthcare excellence in Northeast Colorado providing care for more than 20,000 members in Logan County, and over 50,000 people in its larger market. Sterling Regional MedCenter is licensed for 25 beds with both Medical/Surgical and Intensive Care Units, as well as full Women and Infant Services. For obstetrics, Sterling utilizes a computerized intelligent OB program designed to reduce the chance of complications during labor. As a level III trauma designated hospital, Sterling has 24/7 coverage for Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Imaging, Family Medicine/Peds, and Rehabilitation. Sterling boasts cutting edge technology facilitating telehealth access for sub-specialty and tertiary services and state-of-the-art equipment in Imaging, Laboratory, Operating Suites, Emergency Department, and Inpatient Units. The hospital continues to invest facility upgrades and new equipment.Attached to the hospital is the David Walsh Cancer Center, which provides both Medical and Radiation Oncology, with a beautiful infusion center and new linear accelerator. Sterling Regional is the only rural hospital in Colorado with a linear accelerator. In addition, Sterling Regional MedCenter is closely integrated with our Family Medicine and Surgical Specialty Clinics and the hospital and clinics are part of a 2-year, rural training track residency program affiliated with the University of Northern Colorado. Lastly, Sterling Regional MedCenter is one of Logan County's largest employers with approximately 300 employees and more than 20 physicians representing ten specialties and has been voted Best Employer in Northeastern Colorado for three years in a row.POSITION SUMMARY
This position actively works as a nurse providing direct patient care at a company facility; shifts are scheduled around teaching assignments. Serves as RN role model; provides clinical instruction to nursing students to build the future nursing workforce. Uses agreed upon educational materials and evaluates student performance against established standards. Documents student performance and activities as required. Attends faculty/preceptor meetings and educational sessions.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides clinical instruction to nursing students in assigned patient care area. Demonstrates understanding of adult learning and uses traditional, non-traditional, and innovative methods of instruction.
2. Follows written syllabi/course outlines and utilizes agreed upon teaching materials. Provides appropriate suggestions to enhance and improve such materials.
3. Evaluates student performance against established standards. Documents performance and activities in specified format by stated deadlines.
4. Attends all required faculty/preceptor training.
5. This position has matrix reporting to several areas within the company. Supervision of this position is indirect, with periodic observation and feedback on RN Faculty Performance from students, peers, and supervisors. Student learning objectives and standards for evaluation of student performance are centrally established and must be followed. RN Faculty interacts routinely with patients, their family members, nursing students, nurse orientees, physicians, other caregivers and facility staff.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS
DP - Typical Direct Patient Care environment: (Nutrition Rep, Chaplain, RN)
Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.
Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.
Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.
Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.
Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair.
May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.
Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
May require periodic use of personal computer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required.
Current RN licensure in state of practice.
At least 3 years of experience in nursing specialty area to be taught. Must demonstrate familiarity with adult learning principles. Must maintain acceptable or better performance as an RN in direct patient care, have no active disciplinary action, and continue to work clinical shifts scheduled around faculty teaching assignments to fulfill status hours. *For BUMCT/BUMCP incumbents: Must also work in a full-time capacity as a faculty member in nursing at an accredited college or university.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
