As a Unit Aide Lead for the surgical team at Banner University Medical Center -Tuscon, you will help impact patient care directly by providing a clean and risk free surgical environment. You will clean the operating rooms after each surgery, stock the OR's with supplies, transport patients, and other operational tasks as needed. You will have the opportunity to work in a level one trauma facility with varying types of surgical services in a positive team environment that promotes growth and learning.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides leadership and training for unit aides while working as a member of the Unit Aide team. Assists with oversight of activities relating to collection, inventory, cleaning and distribution of medical supplies and patient care equipment for the unit.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Ensures that staffing plans are carried out properly and that the unit is staffed appropriately. Assists with department-wide projects and ensures consistent service delivery standards in all aspects of Unit Aide responsibilities. Provides input to leader relating to quality and timeliness of work performed by Unit Aide staff.
2.Works closely with leader to recruit, train, retain and develop the Unit Aide team members, fostering a culture that reflects the core values and operational policies of the department and company.
3. May supervise staff in the absence of leader. Makes work assignments and respond to immediate needs by moving staff, as needed.
4. Assists leader in performing quality assurance inspections for review and correction of deficiencies.
5. Distributes cleaning supplies as needed and takes inventories in assigned areas.
6. May perform cleaning functions in areas including operating rooms, specialty areas, room turnovers and/or common areas.
7. Works independently with general supervision. Customers include staff, patients, physicians, vendors, and visitors. Oversees daily activities of a team of Unit Aides. Makes staffing assignments in absence of the leader; coordinates cleaning projects as assigned, assists with on-the-job training, provides input to performance evaluations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BLS certification required
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Requires skills and abilities typically attained by two or more years of healthcare experience.
Knowledge of patient-related supplies, materials, equipment and aseptic techniques.
Must have leadership skills and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Working knowledge of medical terminology required.
Requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Must serve as a role model to others in customer service skills, safe work practices, and infection control including hand hygiene.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Basic computer skills are preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
