Responsibilities
~1 min read- Oversee flex pool deployment across platforms, ensuring the required Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineering capacity is available and aligned to agreed priorities, while front-line leaders manage day-to-day deliverable execution.
- Establish delivery governance through front-line leaders who are accountable for technical issue resolution, quantity of work completed, quality of outputs, and timely escalation of risks or constraints.
- Drive a monthly demand-planning cadence with platforms and partner with recruiting to sustain available capacity at all times through proactive team build-out with efficient forecasting and demand planning.
- Partner with engineering leaders to plan the cohort size, composition and deployment to fulfil recruitment needs across the GCC engineering team.
- Partner with platform engineering leaders and internal front-line leaders to anticipate flex resource demand, confirm scope and priorities, and provide weekly and monthly updates on capacity, commitments, delivery health, and stakeholder risks.
- Build organizational capability by developing front-line leaders, enabling them to coach flex engineers, manage technical readiness, and ensure consistent execution against platform-specific standards.
- Use a skills matrix to maintain visibility to team capability, coverage gaps, readiness levels, and deployment suitability across the flex team.
- Partner with Director, GCC Engineering and People team on recruitment, onboarding, and training.
- Own allocation governance, billing visibility, stakeholder commitment tracking, monthly reporting, heart count forecasts, and core flex team utilization metrics.
- Contribute to GCC dashboards (utilization, attrition, skills coverage, project allocation).
- Support continuous improvement and standardization of engineering processes by enabling governance, escalation discipline, and consistent execution practices through front-line leaders.
- Role-model GCC identity while ensuring fairness and transparency in cross-platform assignments.
- Encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration across flex and dedicated teams.
- Seeking an experienced engineering leader with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering delivery and cross-platform stakeholder management. The role requires sufficient technical breadth to engage credibly with platform leaders and front-line technical leaders, while relying on designated front-line leaders for detailed technical decisions and deliverable ownership.
- The ideal candidate will bring relevant industry experience, proven people leadership, governance discipline, and the ability to manage delivery commitments through front-line leaders while maintaining clear visibility to execution health.
- Working knowledge of discrete machine design, engineering workflows, CAD-based delivery environments, FEA concepts, and global engineering standards is preferred.
- Certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma Black Belt will be considered an advantage, reflecting structured governance, execution discipline, continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to drive predictable delivery through teams.
- Exposure to industrial machinery design, installation, commissioning, and practical engineering constraints is desirable to support informed stakeholder discussions and appropriate escalation management.
- Experience managing distributed teams, external partners, or shared-service delivery models is important to ensure commitments, timelines, escalation paths, and stakeholder expectations are managed effectively.
- A key expectation from this role is to build confidence with BW group companies by ensuring the flex team model delivers reliably against agreed scope, quality expectations, communication cadences, and stakeholder commitments.
- The candidate should demonstrate a strong learning mindset and proven experience developing front-line leaders who can manage technical depth, execution quality, team productivity, mentorship, and performance management within the flex team.
