Afinitas is expanding and launching a new satellite technical office in Des Moines, Iowa, and we're looking for Mechanical Designers/Drafter at all experience levels to join our growing team.

Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Designer/Drafter, you'll help bring equipment concepts to life through detailed design, modeling, and manufacturing documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • →Developing layouts and detailed designs for industrial equipment and mechanical systems
  • →Creating manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and engineering documentation
  • →Performing design analysis to support equipment performance and manufacturability
  • →Creating and maintaining accurate bills of material (BOMs)
  • →Evaluating and implementing design improvements and engineering changes
  • →Collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams throughout the build process
  • →Supporting troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • →Utilizing SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other design tools to create customer-focused solutions
  • →Managing multiple projects while meeting established schedules and deliverables

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Experience ranging from entry-level through senior design positions
  • Experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms
  • Understanding of drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and mechanical design principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
