Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

~1 min read

The Warehouse Launch Associate owns both physical site setup and operational training for new satellite warehouse launches. You'll build racking, floor layout, and basic hardware, while training, onboarding, and certifying the warehouse and last-mile teams that will run the site. You make sure every new site is ready — physically and operationally — for day one.

Note: As launch volume grows, this role splits into dedicated Launch Technician and Training Coordinator tracks. You're the foundational driver of this combined scope before that split happens.

Responsibilities

  • Site Set Up and Operations: Set up the physical space. Build racking layouts, staging areas, and 5S floor markings (tape, signage, labeling) so the site is ready for inventory before go-live.

  • Handle Launch Procurement: Track, order, receive, and assemble consumables, safety gear, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other launch necessities so everything's on-site on time.

  • Stand Up Systems: Configure printers and scanners, and virtually map warehouse locations in the WMS so the site is scan-ready on day one.

  • Manage Facility Basics: Set up trash, recycling, and other day-one facility needs.

  • Be The On-Site Go-To: Field questions, comments, and concerns from the new site team during setup.

  • Training & Onboarding: Train warehouse and last-mile teams. Deliver hands-on onboarding and process training — receiving, put-away, picking, route execution, delivery procedures, and customer-facing standards.

  • Certify Forklift Operators: Run hands-on forklift training and certification, keeping every site 100% compliant.

  • Build and Maintain Training Materials: Create and update SOPs, job aids, and course content in the LMS so training scales across every launch.

  • Feed the Playbook: Document what worked and what didn't so setup and training get faster with every launch.

  • 1+ years of experience in warehouse operations, facilities setup, logistics, or operational training.

  • Hands-on comfort with physical labor (racking, floor taping, moving equipment, extended standing/walking).

  • Strong presentation and coaching skills; comfortable leading small-to-medium group training sessions.

  • Baseline technical literacy — comfortable configuring basic hardware and navigating WMS/LMS software (training provided).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail across checklists and training records.

  • Willing and able to travel frequently to launching sites.

The Launch Operations team gets every new Base Power satellite warehouse ready to open and ready to run. We handle the physical build-out (racking, floor layout, systems setup) and the people side (training, certifications, onboarding) for every launch, then stay on-site through go-live and hyper care until the site can stand on its own. The team is intentionally lean and cross-trained today, with each hire covering multiple parts of the launch rather than a single narrow specialty. As launch volume grows roles specialize and the team scales with it, but the mission stays the same: every warehouse should open safely, consistently, and better than the last one.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.

  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.

  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.

  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.

  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.

  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.

  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.
