Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for an entry-level Transportation Engineer in our Bannockburn, Chicago O’Hare, Crystal Lake, Naperville, or Mokena, IL office. This position will primarily consist of design and construction engineering efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. This team-orientated position will include working with Baxter & Woodman’s diverse disciplines and offices.

• →Design Roadway, Underground Utility, and Infrastructure improvements using Bentley OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D.
• →Conduct drainage, traffic, and various engineering studies.
• →Complete general civil engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• →Complete engineering plans and specifications using IDOT Standards.
• →Process Federal Aid Phase I and II projects for a variety of clients.
• →Assist with construction engineering services for municipal, county and state clients.
• →Assist project engineers and managers with a wide variety of tasks required for project delivery.

• →Ability to travel throughout Baxter & Woodman’s service area (own transportation).
• →Ability to independently handle a variety of ongoing tasks and responsibilities.
• →Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
• →Work within a team-first culture that encourages individual development and accomplishment of goals.

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering

• Relevant internship/co-op experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
• Anticipated F.E. (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification.
• Knowledge of designing roadway and underground improvements with Civil3D or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
• Experience with Geopak.
