Office internships aren’t the only way to advance your career goals. Serving on the Madrichim team at camp gives you a platform to build a wide range of skills you can use in countless careers, including:

  • Teamwork in a fast-paced, multigenerational, international work environment
  • Time management, event planning, and a variety of wellness and youth care skills
  • Leadership development training and mentorship (for you and those you train)
  • Program development, curriculum planning, and group facilitation
  • Budgeting, public speaking, giving and receiving feedback, and conflict resolution
  • Opportunities to immerse yourself in a variety of timely and meaningful content topics
  • Responsibilities that encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and taking risks
  • Prioritizing self-care, extensive time outdoors, recreation, and having fun every day

As a BBYO Madrich/a, a typical day will include:

  • Serve as a role model for participants as a young Jewish adult and an exemplary BBYO alum, translating past BBYO experiences into learning opportunities for participants and showing how the AZA and BBG Movement meaningfully expands beyond high school
  • Manage daily bunk clean-up and inspection
  • Lead camp clean-up (organize the office, reset all rooms, etc.)
  • Ensure all teens are accounted for and involved out of the dorm and in the regular daily schedule of the program
  • Actively involve, and sometimes create, lead, and evaluate, programs at CLTC
  • Support Dorm of the Day responsibilities
  • Ensure all teens are provided appropriate mental and physical care
  • Supervise teens during free time and in the evening (this means staying in the dorms once teens are in for the night)
  • Adhere to and report up regarding the Code of Conduct to ensure teens and staff are following it
  • Create, implement, and evaluate intentional rituals and programs in dorms
  • Provide nighttime supervision in the bunks when teens have "lights out"
  • Provide supervision to teens in programmatic areas
  • Ensure all teens are actively involved in activities
  • Set up for programs (supplies and environment)
  • Supervise teens during chofesh (free time)
  • Support, attend, and sometimes lead all special events and evening programs
  • Support coordinator-led programming
  • Assist with and/or build and implement a chug (camp activity)
  • Assist with and/or lead Shabbat electives
  • Support coordinators with Friendship Circle programs
  • Plan bunk bonding experiences

In addition to living in the bunk with teens, every Madrich/a will have a role in a specific area at camp. For General Programming, you will be responsible for planning camp-style activities and assisting the leadership staff with programming.

  • Welcome teens off buses
  • Support moving luggage and check-in
  • Assist the airport team with welcomes and departures
  • Move boxes and help with packing and unpacking

  • Experience and demonstrated supervisory expertise working with multiple professionals and departments
  • Experience and demonstrated skill in program design, vision, planning, implementation, and evaluation
