The Director, Strategic Public Relations is responsible for executing proactive, high-impact public relations strategies that advance BD’s innovation story as the world’s premier pure-play medical technology company. This role focuses on product, technology and innovation communications across BD’s high-growth market opportunities within the Medical Essentials, Interventional and BioPharma Systems segments. The position plays a critical role in shaping perception of BD across its key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communications or a related field.

Extensive experience in public relations or strategic communications, with a strong emphasis on media relations, product PR, and innovation storytelling.

Demonstrated success executing proactive earned-media strategies for complex products or technologies.

Experience working in healthcare, medical technology, life sciences or other highly regulated industries.

→
Ability to distill technical or clinical concepts into clear, media-relevant messaging.

→
Experience supporting issues and crisis communications with sound judgment and message discipline.

→
Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills; deep familiarity with AP Style.

Strong strategic thinking skills paired with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.

→
Collaborative leadership style with experience partnering across functions and with senior executives.

→
Understands how earned media integrates with owned, social and paid channels to drive impact.
