Senior Staff Systems Engineer (Multiple Positions), Becton Dickinson and Company, Durham, NC. Ensure adequate system level performance for electromechanical and/or robotic systems through close collaboration with hardware design, software, and other functional groups. Translate voice of customer and stakeholder needs into system and product requirements, identify potential hazards and assesses requirements to ensure that the product meets the user/business needs, aid in product verification and validation, and support beta launch of products to early-adopter customer sites. Autonomously lead the planning and execution of technical project work across a portfolio of new product development and sustaining products. Contribute to the transition from R&D to manufacturing/service and supports system troubleshooting activities for products in the field. Coordinate activities on complex, system-of-systems product portfolios. Drives robust systems engineering practices into projects in collaboration with various departments. Serve on cross-functional teams and provide continuous improvement within the Systems Engineering function. Model and coach best practices in technical documentation across a multidisciplinary team and educate colleagues in implementation of DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) best practices to project work.

40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Engineering (any), or a related field, and six (6) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive, related work experience.

Must have six (6) years of experience with/in:

• Experimental design, data acquisition, and graphical analysis;

• Utilizing statistical methods for large complex data sets and implementing Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies;

• Ensuring adequate system level performance for electromechanical systems through close collaboration with hardware design, software, and other functional groups;

• Integrating technology in projects and systems that have both enterprise software and electromechanical (hardware/embedded software) components; and

• Product development (waterfall or agile), innovation, or sustaining for software or electromechanical systems.

Must have four (4) years of experience with/in:

• Systems engineering activities such as: requirement or specification management, integration testing, Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA), or verification and validation;

• R&D to manufacturing or service and supporting system troubleshooting activities for products in the field; and

• Operating in an environment with design control or Quality Management System in place.

Telecommuting permitted on a hybrid schedule as determined by the employer.

Up to 20% of domestic and international travel required.
