Bedrock Energy is on a mission to transform the heating and cooling of buildings, using carbon-free, hyper-efficient, and ultra-safe geothermal energy to radically reduce costs for people and the environment. Incorporated in 2022, we are funded by top investors in climate and energy and are gathering exceptional talent to scale geothermal energy to decarbonize buildings everywhere. We’re seeking creative, collaborative, proactive team members who inspire us with their high standards of excellence, integrity, and commitment to our shared mission.

The Mud Operator is a critical partner to the Driller and helps maintain drilling performance, pressure control, and borehole quality.

This is a hitch-based role. Crew work rotations at project sites across the US. Bedrock covers travel to and from site, lodging during your hitch, and provides a per diem for meals.

  • Document chemical usage, mud properties, inventory needs, and notable field events
  • Help maintain active awareness of formation changes and drilling conditions through returns and cuttings observation
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience

  • Understands rheology basics such as marsh funnel viscosity, density, and pH
  • Has operated solids control equipment such as shakers and desanders
  • Can manage pit volumes and fluid systems during active operations
  • Strong work ethic, communication, and field awareness
