Bessemer Trust is seeking an experienced Marketing Review & Private Funds Compliance Officer. This role will be responsible for leading the firm’s Marketing Review Compliance Program, including the centralized review and approval of marketing and communications materials and compliance oversight of the firm’s social media activities. This role will also be responsible for providing compliance oversight of the firm’s private funds and alternative investment activities.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Manage the firm’s Marketing Review Compliance Program, including reviewing and approving marketing, advertising, and communications materials for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
- Review a broad range of marketing and communications materials, including portfolio summaries, mutual fund and private fund materials, market commentaries, presentations, fact sheets, website and digital content, press releases, social media content, and other client and prospect communications.
- Provide Compliance oversight of the firm’s social media activities and content, including review and approval of social media communications and ongoing guidance regarding applicable regulatory requirements, disclosures, recordkeeping requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
- Partner with Marketing and other stakeholders on the development and use of new or evolving digital and social media channels, helping to identify and address associated compliance and regulatory considerations.
- Provide clear, practical guidance to Marketing, Investments, Client Advisory, and other business teams regarding marketing and communications requirements, including investment performance, disclosures, fund communications, and digital and social media communications.
- Promote a consistent and centralized marketing review process and establish effective standards for the review, approval, documentation, and retention of marketing materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing review process, including workflow enhancements, technology solutions, standardized disclosures, and risk-based review practices.
- Provide compliance oversight of the firm’s private funds and alternative investment activities, including private equity, hedge fund, real assets, and other alternative investment funds and strategies.
- Provide compliance oversight and guidance regarding private fund policies and procedures, internal controls, investment processes, offering and investor documentation, regulatory disclosures, and required certifications.
Requirements
~4 min read- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or relevant Compliance certifications a plus.
- 7+ years of relevant Compliance experience.
- Strong knowledge of applicable requirements under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, Investment Company Act of 1940, FINRA advertising and communications rules, and other applicable regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Experience reviewing and advising on investment management marketing and communications materials, including investment performance information, mutual fund and private fund materials, presentations, market commentary, digital or social media content, and client or prospect communications.
- Familiarity with private funds and alternative investment compliance requirements, including exposure to private equity, hedge funds, real assets, or similar alternative investment products.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, actionable guidance.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team and build effective partnerships across Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Investments, Client Advisory, and other business functions, with sound judgment and a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
- Experience with marketing and social media review technology platforms a plus.
The base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $170,000 per year. This range reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. In addition, this position may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, and other compensation programs as applicable. Eligible employees may participate in a 401(k) program with a generous profit-sharing contribution, medical, prescription dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; disability coverage; paid holidays; vacation; and sick time, subject to plan terms and Company policies.
