Are you relational, detail-oriented, and energized by the opportunity to learn something new? This internship offers more than exposure to the mortgage industry—it gives you the chance to become an important part of helping individuals and families move toward homeownership.

As a Mortgage Intern with Olive Branch Home Loans, you will work directly alongside experienced Loan Officers and learn how a mortgage moves from application to closing. For someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to build a meaningful career, this role can provide a strong foundation for future growth as a licensed Loan Officer.

You will support our Loan Officers by managing the documents, details, and follow-up that keep each loan progressing toward closing.

Your core functions will include:

  • Reviewing borrower documents for completeness, accuracy, and legibility.
  • Organizing, labeling, and indexing documents within the loan file and pipeline.
  • Identifying missing, expired, or mismatched information and communicating those needs to the assigned Loan Officer.
  • Preparing loan files for processing and underwriting.
  • Keeping pipeline statuses, milestones, and closing dates current.
  • Helping identify at-risk files early so the team can protect the closing timeline.
  • Following up on outstanding conditions and third-party items, including appraisals, title documents, and verifications.
  • Communicating with borrowers regarding document requests, scheduling, and general status updates.
  • Learning common mortgage documents, loan processes, lending systems, and borrower confidentiality requirements.
  • Supporting Loan Officers with additional administrative and operational needs as they arise.

This is a learning-focused support role completed under the direction of a licensed Loan Officer. The intern will not independently take loan applications, quote or negotiate rates or terms, or advise borrowers on loan options.

Purchasing a home is one of the most significant decisions a person or family will make. Behind every successful closing is a team carefully managing deadlines, documents, communication, and details.

In this role, your work helps:

  • Keep borrowers informed and supported throughout the process.
  • Prevent missing information from delaying a closing.
  • Give Loan Officers more time to serve clients and build relationships.
  • Create a smooth and trustworthy experience for future homeowners.
  • Strengthen the systems and processes of a growing mortgage company.

You will not simply observe the process—you will contribute to it.

This internship is designed to help you build a practical foundation in mortgage lending and real estate finance. You will gain experience in:

  • The complete mortgage process, from application through closing.
  • Borrower service and professional communication.
  • Loan documentation and file management.
  • Mortgage operations, processing, and underwriting preparation.
  • Pipeline tracking and deadline management.
  • Compliance, confidentiality, and responsible handling of financial information.
  • Collaboration within a fast-moving, relationship-driven business.

This opportunity may be a great fit for you if you:

  • Build relationships naturally and enjoy helping people.
  • Are motivated by challenges and opportunities to grow.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and take initiative.
  • Can balance strong people skills with careful attention to detail.
  • Follow through on commitments without needing to be chased.
  • Ask thoughtful questions and learn quickly from feedback.
  • Stay organized while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Take ownership when something needs to be corrected or completed.
  • Are trustworthy with personal and financial information.
  • Are interested in real estate, lending, sales, business, or financial services.

This role is an opportunity to explore the mortgage industry while developing skills that can support a long-term career in lending.

A successful intern may have the opportunity to continue developing toward a Loan Officer career path. Loan Officers combine relationship-building, business development, financial knowledge, and problem-solving to guide clients through the home-financing process.

Growth into a future position is not guaranteed, but this internship is intentionally designed to provide meaningful experience, industry knowledge, and a strong foundation for someone interested in pursuing that path.

At Olive Branch Home Loans, you will have the opportunity to learn within a growing company, contribute to work that directly affects homebuyers, and explore a career where relationships and results both matter.

If you are ready to be challenged, develop professionally, and discover what a future in mortgage lending could look like, we would love to meet you.
