Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manages and oversees the operational implementation of assigned economic development programs, projects, and initiatives that support business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts
- →Coordinates the operational delivery and tracking of economic development incentive programs including Tax Abatement, Skills Development, Innovation, and related incentive initiatives
- →Supports the development and implementation of economic development agreements and assists in monitoring compliance to ensure compliance with County policies and performance requirements
- →Serves as the department’s staff liaison supporting the County’s participation with the Committee of Six, including coordination of meetings, communications, and monitoring regional workforce development activities involving Workforce Solutions Alamo
- →Researches and analyzes economic trends, workforce needs, and industry data to support program implementation and leadership decision-making
- →Reviews economic development proposals and supporting documentation including technical, legal, and financial materials to assist in evaluating projects and incentive requests
- →Coordinates with internal departments, municipalities, regional economic development organizations, workforce partners, and industry representatives to support economic development projects and initiatives
- →Monitors compliance with economic development agreements and incentive programs and assists with resolving deficiencies or performance issues when necessary
- →Assists with developing outreach materials, presentations, and communications that promote Bexar County’s economic development programs and initiatives
- →Prepares operational reports, analyses, and briefing materials for Commissioners Court, County leadership, and other stakeholders regarding program performance and project activity
- →Tracks legislative and policy developments impacting economic development and workforce initiatives and assists with research or coordination as needed
- →Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
~1 min read- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Economics, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, program management, public administration, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of local government operations and economic development practices
- Knowledge of economic development incentive tools, workforce development systems, and regional economic development organizations
- Skill in managing projects and coordinating multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Skill in analyzing technical, legal, and financial documents related to economic development programs
- Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Commissioners Court, elected officials, department leadership, partner organizations, and the general public
- Ability to present information clearly and professionally
- Experience presenting and leading meetings with “C-Suite” professionals
- Demonstrates technological proficiency and ability to utilize standard office and data systems
- Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
- Must clear a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen test
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
- May occasionally be required to work evenings or weekends
