Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern - CSCD

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in orientations of clients regarding the Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance use Disorders for substance abuse and/or chemical dependency treatment programs and/or dual diagnosis treatment programs;

Facilitate and co-facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions as required per program curriculum per week;

Maintain a knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse and dual diagnosis;

Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse and dual diagnosis professionals, programs, and associations;

Complete required assessment, psycho-social history, and testing on all incoming clients;

Develop an individual treatment plan for each client within his/her assigned caseload based on program needs;

Complete all required documentation and/or required forms for those clients who are assigned to his/her caseload;

Assist in the coordination of client program schedules to ensure the needs of the client and goals set by the individual treatment plan are met;

Submit reports to the referring officer;

Develop discharge plans and provide follow-up on clients who are released from the program;

Document and forward Admission progress reports and incident reports, and Discharge and Aftercare Summary to the RCSO/CSO as required;

Prepare statistical reporting of clients served;

Establish and maintain computerized records and/reports;

Attend and participate in weekly facility meetings;

Comply with HIPAA and PHI to ensure confidentiality of all client information;

Inform proper authority when attendance issues are present or non-compliance is evidenced;

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE:

Basic knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy based counseling methods and techniques;

Basic knowledge of Dual Diagnosis Treatment;

Basic knowledge of the Counseling 12 Core Functions of drug and alcohol substance abuse programs and treatment;

Basic knowledge of the 12 Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous;

Basic knowledge of the criminal justice system;

Ability to make accurate and appropriate counselor inferences, assessments and judgments;

Basic knowledge of referral and residential placement process within the criminal justice system;
