Specializing in master-planned developments and principles of new urbanism, each Billingsley property signifies technology, convenience, and a vast array of amenities aimed to attract and retain tenants, residents, visitors, and employees. These amenities include art, sculpture, parks, trails, and outdoor public spaces. With over 5,000 acres in DFW, Billingsley has built 5 million SF of Commercial space, 550,000 SF of Retail, 9 million SF of Industrial, and over 10,000 units of Multi-Family. 

The Portfolio Accountant supports the accounting and financial reporting for a segment (Office, Industrial, or Retail) of the commercial real estate portfolio. Working under the direction of the Senior Portfolio Accountant and Controller, this role prepares general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly reporting while building a strong foundation in commercial property accounting.

Responsibilities

  • →Prepare routine general ledger entries and recurring journal entries (insurance, taxes, and mortgage interest) for review
  • →Record cash receipts and disbursements promptly so cash management has accurate, current information
  • →Identify and record monthly expense accruals with guidance from the Senior Portfolio Accountant
  • →Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and preliminary bank reconciliations
  • →Prepare monthly financial reports, rent rolls, and related schedules for review
  • →Set up new tenants and tenant charges in Yardi
  • →Post monthly tenant charges and receipts
  • →Maintain supporting documentation for receivables and payables so reconciliations are audit-ready
  • →Process and code payables for approval
  • →Support the annual property budget and monthly reforecast process by gathering data and preparing schedules
  • →Follow established accounting procedures and escalate discrepancies or questions in a timely manner
  • →Other projects as assigned by the Senior Portfolio Accountant or Controller

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 0 to 2 years of accounting experience; real estate or property accounting experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Yardi Voyager experience preferred; willingness to learn required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Clear communicator who asks questions and takes direction well
  • Collaborative team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Eager to learn and grow toward a Senior Portfolio Accountant role
