We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity to join Biotage, a global leader in separation science, as a Field Service Engineer based in Korea. This dynamic role offers hands-on technical challenges, extensive customer engagement, and the opportunity to work with innovative laboratory instrumentation supporting customers across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Service
Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, and repair Biotage laboratory instruments.
Perform preventative maintenance and corrective service activities to ensure optimal instrument performance.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and basic software issues both on-site and remotely.
Deliver prompt and effective technical support to maximize instrument uptime and customer satisfaction.
Customer Support
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic organisations.
Provide user training and operational guidance to ensure customers achieve maximum value from their Biotage systems.
Respond to service enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Service Operations
Maintain accurate service documentation and reporting using company systems.
Manage spare parts inventory and support effective service planning activities.
Support service contract, warranty, and preventative maintenance programmes.
Business Contribution
Identify opportunities to expand service offerings, including preventative maintenance contracts and instrument upgrades.
Collaborate with the local sales team by providing technical expertise and customer support.
Contribute to customer retention, service excellence, and revenue growth.
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in field service, technical support, or a similar customer-facing technical role, preferably within laboratory instrumentation.
Knowledge of chromatography, sample preparation, or analytical instrumentation would be advantageous.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in Korean is required; English language skills are preferred.
Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to work independently.
Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout Korea (approximately 50–70% travel).
About the Role
Based in Korea and reporting to the Service Manager, this position involves frequent travel to customer sites across the country, with occasional opportunities to support wider APAC service activities.
