Construction Equipment Mechanic

Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Construction Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for maintenance, diagnostic and repairs of tools and equipment. This position is located out of the Equipment Yard (Transcona).

Responsibilities

What You’ll Be Working On:
  • Maintenance, diagnostics and repair of construction tools and equipment. Tasks including oil changes, blade and belt changes, cord and hose repairs, engine repairs. etc.

  • Repair or replace parts on tools and equipment and triage to appropriate third-party provider when necessary.

  • Source and order parts as needed.

  • Disassemble and reassemble tools and equipment.

  • Performing daily inspections of tools, materials and equipment at the yard.

  • Test tools and equipment to ensure they are working properly.

  • Towable equipment and trailer wiring.

  • Inventory control of equipment, material and tools. Numbering and decaling of equipment.

  • Assisting with general Yard operations.

  • Other duties as required.

  • 3-5+ years of mechanic experience working on construction tools and equipment or relevant experience.

  • Red Seal certification considered an asset.

  • Experience working with equipment such as small engines, skid-steers, and power tools is required.

  • Welding experience considered an asset.

  • Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot clutches, hydraulics, and electrical components.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical and parts manuals.

  • Detail oriented, mechanically inclined with strong time management skills.

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

  • Computer skills are considered an asset.

  • Must have a vehicle to commute to yard location.
