Materials Coordinator

The Material Coordinator will support our industrial project operations. This role is critical in ensuring materials are procured, tracked, delivered, and staged efficiently to keep field crews productive and projects on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and experienced in fast-paced industrial environments.

This role is based on a project site in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the flow of materials from site requisition through delivery, storage, and issuance to field teams

  • Work closely with procurement, construction management, and warehouse teams to forecast material needs

  • Maintain accurate inventory records, material logs, and documentation

  • Track purchase orders, shipping schedules, and vendor deliveries

  • Inspect incoming materials for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications

  • Organize laydown yards, storage areas, and material staging zones

  • Support material returns, surplus management, and reconciliation

  • Ensure all material handling follows Bird’s safety standards and site procedures

  • Communicate material status updates to project leadership and field supervisors

  • Assist with expediting critical materials to avoid project delays

  • 3+ years of experience in material coordination, warehousing, or logistics within industrial or construction environments

  • Strong understanding of industrial materials, tools, and equipment

  • Experience with ERP or material management systems (e.g., SAP, JD Edwards, Procore, etc.

  • Valid driver’s license; CSTS

  • Strong organizational and communication skills, working in a team environment

  • Ability to work in outdoor, industrial, and physically demanding environments

  • Commitment to safety and adherence to Bird’s core culture and values
