Description

Black Mountain Home for Children is hiring a Donations, Pickups & Recycling Associate to join our thrift store team at Mountain Home Thrift Store: Cheryl’s Place. You would be a great fit if you enjoy serving others, active hands-on work, and want your work to make a difference in the world.

In this role, you’ll schedule and pick up donations, keep the warehouse clean and organized, and assist with store operations and recycling. We’re looking for someone friendly, dependable, and able to work well with others. You’ll be representing our Christian ministry, so a strong faith, good attitude, and respectful communication are important. This is a full-time job where you’ll make a difference every day, helping support children and families in need.

Responsibilities

→Serve as the lead scheduler for donation pickups and assist with completing donation pickups throughout Western North Carolina. This will include logistical planning, working knowledge of various policies, and effective communication with donors and co-workers throughout the process.
→Maintain cleanliness and up-to-date inventory in the warehouse and storage areas.
→Assist in our recycling program.
→Assist as needed with thrift store operations.
→Represent Black Mountain Home with professionalism and courtesy, providing superior donor relations and customer service in all interactions.

Requirements

✓Able to work Saturdays.

✓Able to lift or assist in lifting and moving various items, including items weighing over 50 lbs. Various tools and machines are in place to help with this.

✓Have a valid driver’s license and be able to competently operate a variety of vehicles and/or trailers for donation pickups.

✓Good communication and relationship skills.

✓Team player who can effectively work with supervisor, co-workers, donors, volunteers, and customers.

✓Retail, moving, or other relevant service experience is a plus - but don't let that stop you from applying, we are willing to train.

✓Forklift certification is preferred.
