Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead legal advisor to executive leadership on construction operations, contract strategy, enterprise risk, and corporate initiatives.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of agreements tied to complex construction activity, including customer contracts, subcontractor agreements, vendor terms, confidentiality agreements, and strategic business arrangements.
  • Provide legal guidance on claims, disputes, and other contested matters, while helping determine resolution strategy and managing outside counsel where needed.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on risk allocation, project exposure, insurance related issues, and dispute avoidance best practices.
  • Support legal and business planning tied to acquisitions, strategic transactions, due diligence, and post transaction risk assessment.
  • Counsel leaders on labor and employment matters affecting a unionized workforce, including collective bargaining related issues and broader workforce compliance considerations.
  • Guide the organization on compliance matters involving construction operations, employment law, safety requirements, licensing, and related regulatory obligations.
  • Help build practical legal processes, internal controls, and training approaches that improve consistency and reduce risk across the business.
  • Partner cross functionally with operations, finance, human resources, and senior management to support both day to day legal needs and longer term growth objectives.
  • Juris Doctor and active bar admission in good standing.
  • At least 10 years of legal experience with strong depth in construction law, contract negotiation, claims, and risk management.
  • Prior experience as General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel, or a comparable senior legal advisor supporting a construction focused organization.
  • Demonstrated success advising senior executives in a fast paced, high growth business setting.
  • Working knowledge of labor law and union environments, including exposure to collective bargaining matters.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or other strategic transactions, including diligence and legal risk review.
  • Strong judgment, executive maturity, and the ability to translate legal issues into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership capabilities.
