Black & Veatch's Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) group delivers civil site development for its projects: grading and drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing and underground utilities. This lead technician supports Grid Solutions projects (substation and overhead transmission line), creating and modifying site plans, grading designs and utility layouts, and may supervise a team of technicians.

Establish and communicate design and graphic standards; review project requirements and design inputs.

Ensure deliverables comply with codes and standards; manage drawing control and project records.

Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs and estimates.

Review others' deliverables; monitor production for consistency, budget and schedule.

Coordinate with other design groups; may support field activities.

Provide technical guidance and training to other technicians.

Associate degree in drafting or an engineering design technology.

Typically 11+ years related work experience.

Advanced skill in Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation.

Bachelor's degree in an engineering design technology.
