This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. By leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin’s continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.

Responsibilities

Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as vehicle integration and test, structural assembly, mechanical systems, solar arrays, avionics, fluids, and thermal products

Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT), key to building reliable vehicles for space exploration.

Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.

Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.

Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.

Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).

Support root cause analysis (RCA) of process or product non-conformances (NC); develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.

Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.

Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.

Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.
Lunar Operations play a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of Blue Origin’s Lunar vehicles. As a key component of our mission, Lunar Operations ensures that our vehicles are not only developed and assembled to the highest standards, but also thoroughly tested and prepared for its Lunar journey. This division collaborates closely with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to guarantee that the vehicle meets all mission requirements and performs flawlessly in the challenging lunar environment.
Requirements
~1 min readBachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university.
Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role: (3+ years Level 2 Manufacturing Engineer, 5+ years Level 3 Manufacturing Engineer, 8+ years Sr Manufacturing Engineer).
1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed. Open to work extended hours if required.
Experience in high-rate assembly lines for aerospace and/or automotive is preferred.
Experience with a specialty commodity or technology like multi-layer insulation (MLI), aluminum welding, solar arrays, fluids fabrication, harness fabrication, or composite fabrication.
Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T.
Experience working with Bill-of-materials and BOM reconciliation.
Prior manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace or automotive.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles.
Experience with AS9100 quality standards.

- Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
