Help run the machine that is changing how defense consortia work

This year, USSOCOM launched SOF RACER, a consortium that is free for companies and exists to rapidly prototype commercial technology. BMNT runs the human engine, framing the right problems, recruiting and preparing companies, and accelerating the impact. Soon, we may be managing a second consortium built on the same model for the maritime domain, and we need an Analyst who keeps both engines running well.

This is a rare seat working with a small, highly capable team at the leading edge of consortium management, where supply and demand come together to turn a solicitation into an award and a military problem into a prototype. You will see how government buys, how startups sell, and how a consortium is built – and you will own real pieces of it within your first month at BMNT.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • →Own onboarding. A company that applies to join should be bid-eligible in days, not weeks. You run the first-pass screen on every application, catch the duplicates, the non-companies, and the foreign-ownership questions. The time between first contact and bid-eligible is your key metric.
  • →Run the front desk. Member questions arrive by the hundreds on platform access, application status, how to respond to a solicitation, and more. You answer what you can, route what you cannot, track every open issue to resolution, and turn the most common questions into an FAQ or a training session.
  • →Keep the numbers honest. Monthly status reports, quarterly metrics, and the program dashboard run on inputs like onboarding speed, coverage per technology area, responses per solicitation, support volume, and more. You build and maintain those inputs so the program leads and partners never have to go looking for truth.
  • →Make events happen. Industry days, training sessions, office hours, and demo events, including the logistics, materials, registration, and follow-up.
  • You are organized enough to run 30 open threads and honest enough to flag the one that is slipping before anyone asks.
  • You like process because it makes you faster, and you document what you build because you expect to hand it off.
  • You write clearly and succinctly, and you can explain a government norm to a founder without sounding superior.
  • You are comfortable with data like spreadsheets, dashboards, public records like USAspending and SAM.gov, and whatever tool the job needs next.
  • You are curious about how government buys technology and how companies sell it, and you want to learn the tradecraft from people who do it every day.
  • You treat a member company's bad week on the platform as your problem to fix, and you ask for help early and loudly when it affects the mission.
  • Clearance: none required to start; eligibility for a Secret clearance preferred. U.S. citizenship required.

We are the 40-person Silicon Valley company that has spent a decade proving commercial innovation methods work in national security. Our methods trace to the Army's Rapid Equipping Force, which our founder led; we run the Hacking for Defense program across 67 universities; and our pipelines have moved real technology, including ocean sensors, photonic navigation, and edge AI, into operational hands. We just helped end the consortium-fee model that taxed the defense industrial base for two decades, and we hope to bring that model to the water. We’re a small company with no layers, a national mission, and your fingerprints can be on all of it.

In office or hybrid with monthly travel. Compensation is between $67,000 and $104,000 and determined by location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
