We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Modeling and Simulation Engineer with professional experience to support the design and analysis of satellite constellations in El Segundo, CA.
We support Boeing Defense Systems building next generation space systems. This position is for a MS&A (modeling simulation and analysis) engineer supporting constellation design. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to perform system-of-systems trades, leverage existing tools and processes, and apply expertise in orbital mechanics and satellite mission operations to improve Boeing products.
Responsibilities

- →Design and analyze constellations using STK or comparable modeling toolsets.
- →Apply satellite orbital mechanics principles, including orbital elements, for constellation design and optimization.
- →Analyze communications coverage, visibility, and beam laydowns to optimize mission efficacy.
System-of-Systems Trades & Resource Scheduling
- →Conduct system-of-systems trades and analyses using standard tools.
- →Analyze prioritization and cost trade-offs in scheduling mission operations across multi-vehicle constellations.
- →Evaluate heterogeneous allocation and scheduling of resources such as time, bandwidth, power, and data storage within constellation systems.
Subsystem Integration & Requirements Analysis
- →Integrate constraints across subsystems into optimizations.
- →Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate system representation and to identify trade-offs.
Code Review & Process Optimization
- →Review, validate, and map code.
- →Utilize configuration management software.
Visualization & Communication
- →Create clear compelling visualizations—including data graphics and videos.
- →Present solutions in engaging formats to support decision-making and communication.
Requirements
~2 min read- This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 1 + years of experience in satellite constellation design, systems engineering, or modeling and simulation.
- 1 + years of experience with a higher-level programming code (e.g. C, MATLAB, Python, or similar).
- 1 + years of experience with satellite orbital mechanics, including orbital elements or constellation geometry.
- 1 + years of experience using STK (Systems Tool Kit).
- 1 + years of experience with satellite subsystem constraints including attitude control, propulsion, communication systems, power, or thermal management.
- 1 + years of experience in coverage analysis, beam pattern design, or visibility assessment.
- 1 + years of experience with delivering technical presentations to executive teams.
- 1 + years of experience with performing trade studies and vehicle design optimization.
- Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI.
- Proficient in both MATLAB and Python.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct resource scheduling and prioritization analyses for multi-vehicle satellite systems or related systems.
- Experience using configuration management software such as GitLab for version control and collaboration.
- Ability to develop or extend simulation tools and workflows.
- Experience developing complex visualization products.
- Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range (Mid-Level - Level 3): $119,850 - $162,150
