Maintenance Associate

The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization committed since the 1870s to serving people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and poverty. Key role in creating a hospitable environment for guests and residents, with an emphasis on maintaining the buildings and grounds. Perform a variety of duties to keep equipment, systems, and spaces ready to use. Carry out physical review of assigned areas. Complete checklists, respond to work orders, help meet facility needs across teams.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide ongoing physical review of assigned areas (including roof and sidewalks).
• Perform tasks to maintain essential systems, such as preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, completing assigned checklists, minor plumbing repairs, and responding to work orders. 
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace. Responsible for provided tools, materials, etc., and keeping them available for use.
• Assist Facility staff and other teams to provide excellent service. Includes a variety of tasks, such as physically assisting with event/space set-up and helping during events.
• Note and communicate maintenance and supply needs throughout assigned areas. 
• Duties include reaching, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday: 9:00am-5:30pm

Requires availability for days, nights, evenings, weekends, and holiday work hours as assigned.

Requirements:

• Embrace's the organization’s Statement of Faith.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years Facilities experience.

Preferred:

• Preventative maintenance practices. Safety training/certificate.
• Understanding of shelter operations.
• Driver’s license preferred.
• F80 (fire safety, guard certificate); NCI Certification; OSHA Certification.

Salary: $21.63
