The Bowery Mission meets essential needs and creates transformative communities with men, women, children, and families in New York so that we can together overcome homelessness and poverty and flourish. 



As key member of the TBM Program team, the Residential Manager, Community Life (Residential Manager) provides leadership that fosters a transformative and vibrant missional community at the Upper East Side (UES) Campus. The Residential Manager lives onsite and works collaboratively with all departments supporting the UES Campus to create a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment that fosters relationships with God and others. Ensures a consistent standard of excellence in hospitality, physical safety, and program operations. Ensures adherence and clarity around Community Life Guidelines. Oversees room preparation, building/key access, and the cleaning/maintenance responsibilities of the missional community. Encourages/coaches residential alumnae to build upon their successes. Oversees Work Therapy assignments at the UES Campus. Supervises and trains residential interns. Lead or co-lead meetings including Missional Community gatherings, residential alumnae groups/classes, and staff meetings. Hosts other visitors, special events, tours and leads tours. Provides on-call support. Provides timely reporting and recordkeeping according to TBM policy.



Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with all departments supporting the UES (Facilities, Volunteer Services, Logistics, Sustain & Grow alumni program, etc.) to create a safe, caring, and trauma-informed environment that fosters relationship with God and others.
  • Monitor cameras and fire safety panels. Conduct fire safety rounds and fire drills according to NYC code and TBM policy. Complete security checks according to TBM policy and manage building/key access. 
  • Ensure compliance with TBM’s Health and Safety standards, including accurate recording of residential alumnae medications.
  • Provide onsite, on-call coverage four nights per week (11 PM - 7 AM), including some weekends, unless on PTO. 
  • Welcome and orient individuals to the Upper East Side Campus and Community Life Guidelines.
  • Oversee room preparation for upcoming stays and cleanup thereafter. Ensure missional groups, residential interns, and residential staff understand all of their responsibilities to the missional community and are equipped to complete them. 
  • Lead or co-lead residential alumnae House Meetings and other groups/classes. Oversee Work Therapy assignments: post weekly schedule, provide proper coaching and training, track attendance and assignment statuses.
  • Ensure fire safety and residential alumnae data is accurately recorded before completing every shift, including fire safety logs, Community Life notes, residential alumnae medication documentation, and incident reports.



Schedule: 11:00am-7:30pm (Sunday/Monday Off) 


Requirements:

  • Embrace's the organization’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, hospitality management, or other relevant area preferred or a combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years coordinating or supervising in a residential program or similar ministry or setting. Proven experience in team leadership.
  • F-80 Fire Safety certification or able to obtain within 60 days. 
  • Ability to identify building/facility needs.

Preferred: 

  • Mental Health First Aid.
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention.
  • Motivational Interviewing.
  • First Aid/CPR.



Salary commensurate with relevant education & experience: $70,000-$80,000
