JOB TITLE: Tournament Traveler – Lane Technician Associate
LOCATION: Tournament Site (Las Vegas, NV or Mooresville, NC)
POSITION TYPE: Temporary, Full-Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Lane Technician Supervisor
WORK HOURS: Varying shifts are scheduled seven days per week based on tournament operations. The ability to work early in the mornings, late in the evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours is required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
USBC is looking for dedicated, service-minded individuals to join our tournament team as a Lane Technician Associate. Lane Technician team members are responsible for maintaining the integrity and consistency of the competition environment by preparing and conditioning lanes using advanced lane maintenance equipment. Their expertise and attention to detail are central to the success of USBC Championship events.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the competition area – sweeping, dusting, or mopping of approaches, settees, hoods, or gutters.
- Equipment upkeep – lane machine (cleaning, filling, and charging) and water cooler (filling & cup supply).
- Customer Service calls – address issues, cleanups, and retrieving items off the lanes.
- Regularly participate in scheduled meetings and huddles, keeping tournament leadership informed of department activities or service challenges.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of Kegel Lane machines and products.
• Must be neat and well-groomed always as will have frequent contact with guests, clients, and supporting staff.
• Superior customer service proficiencies- service-minded and engaged.
• Effective communication skills-ability to speak clearly and confidently.
• Computer and communication systems literate – PC, phone, and two-way radios.
• Focused–the ability to complete tasks accurately in a distraction-filled environment.
• Robust interpersonal skills–team player.
• Adaptable and flexible approach to changing operational needs.
• Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive participant, financial, personnel, scoring, and operational information.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or continuing education.
• Ability to pass USBC Registered Volunteer Program background screening and adhere to the Code of Conduct of the USBC Registered Volunteer Program.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to work in an occasionally noisy and inclement environment with potential short-term exposure to non-toxic fumes.
- Must be mobile as well as sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly, and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
TRAVEL: This position will require the employee to be on-site for the Championships, so relocation is required for up to 6 months at a time.
