About the Role
~1 min readBradken is seeking a Metallurgist to support metallurgy, quality and process control at our Merlimau manufacturing facility.
This is role is suited to someone who has developed a solid foundation in foundry operations and is ready to take greater ownership of day-to-day technical decisions.
Reporting to the Technical Lead, you will work closely with production and technical teams across melting, heat treatment, inspection and product quality.
It offers the opportunity to deepen your foundry expertise while contributing directly to product quality, manufacturing performance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Monitor and provide technical support for melting, heat treatment and other metallurgical processes.
- →Review inspection and test results to determine whether products meet customer and specification requirements.
- →Prepare material test certificates, inspection records and technical documentation.
- →Investigate non-conformances and product failures, identify likely causes and recommend practical corrective actions.
- →Work with production teams to resolve quality issues without compromising safety or technical standards.
- →Support material selection, process changes and improvements to existing products.
- →Help improve manufacturing cost and performance through better metallurgical control and problem-solving.
- →Maintain quality procedures, process controls and relevant Quality Management System requirements.
- →Ensure testing and inspection equipment remains calibrated and fit for use.
- →Communicate quality findings clearly to production, technical and sales stakeholders.
- →Participate in Gemba, 5S, safety activities and continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- →A degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science is essential
- →At least three years of relevant experience in a foundry, metals manufacturing or similar environment.
- →Working knowledge of melting, heat treatment, metallurgy and material properties.
- →Experience supporting process control, product inspection, quality investigations or non-conformance analysis.
- →Ability to interpret technical requirements and prepare clear reports, procedures and test documentation.
- →A structured approach to problem-solving and the confidence to make sound technical recommendations.
- →Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production teams in a hands-on plant environment.
- →Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma or similar improvement methods would be useful.
- →Current legal right to work in Malaysia.
- → Based in Merlimau or within practical commuting distance, with the ability to attend the Merlimau site daily.
- You will be practical, analytical and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment. You can build effective relationships with production and technical teams, investigate issues thoroughly and communicate clear recommendations.
- You take ownership of your work, use sound judgement and remain focused on improving quality, process performance and customer outcomes.
