The Brook Hill School is seeking certified nurses who are willing and available to be called to support and sub for our campus nurses. Shifts might be from 8am-3:30pm or 3:00pm-10:00pm (for our residential students).

While on shift, this person may administer routine meds, check in with students with existing health needs, or respond to active health issues. This person may also be asked to perform other organizational or administrative duties by the Director of Health Services.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHS) school health standards and best practices.
  • Assess student health concerns, provide appropriate care, and respond effectively to medical emergencies.
  • Provide care for chronic conditions, acute illnesses, and injuries; administer medications and perform routine health procedures.
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to support student wellness and academic success.
  • Coordinate care with medical providers, counselors, therapists, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support.
  • Assist the Boarding Office in maintaining complete health documentation for boarding students.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records including medication administration logs, and treatment notes.
  • Ensure clinic readiness by monitoring medical supply levels, tracking expiration dates, and ensuring proper medication storage; notify the Director of Health Services when additional supplies are needed.
  • In congruence with standard protocols and under advisement of Director of Health Services, communicate with parents regarding student health incidents, ongoing care needs, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Participate in the assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Provide medical support during off-campus or overnight school trips as assigned by the Director of Health Services.
  • Assist with administrative or clinical support in other campus clinics as needed.
