Electrician

The Light Industrial Electrician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems and equipment in an industrial facility. This position supports safe and reliable operations by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment issues, and completing electrical installations and repairs in accordance with applicable codes, site procedures, and safety requirements.

• →Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and systems.
• →Diagnose electrical problems using meters, test equipment, schematics, and technical manuals.
• →Maintain and repair motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, disconnects, switches, lighting systems, receptacles, and electrical panels.
• →Install and repair conduit, cable tray, wiring, junction boxes, and related electrical components.
• →Troubleshoot basic control circuits, sensors, limit switches, and other production-related electrical devices.
• →Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on assigned electrical equipment.
• →Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and facility improvement projects.
• →Replace defective electrical components and verify proper operation after repairs.
• →Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• →Complete work orders and accurately document labor, materials, findings, and repairs.
• →Identify electrical hazards and equipment deficiencies and communicate them to supervision.
• →Coordinate work with maintenance, operations, contractors, and other crafts.
• →Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• →Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, pre-job planning, and required training.
• →Perform other maintenance duties consistent with the employee’s qualifications and assigned responsibilities.

• →Follow all Brown & Root and client safety policies and procedures.
• →Comply with lockout/tagout, energized electrical work, arc-flash, and electrical safe-work requirements.
• →Inspect tools, test equipment, and personal protective equipment before use.
• →Complete required pre-job planning and hazard assessments.
• →Stop work and immediately report unsafe conditions or activities.
• →Use the proper electrical-rated personal protective equipment for the assigned task.
• →Perform only work for which the employee is trained, qualified, and authorized.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four or more years of electrical maintenance experience in a light industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or facilities environment.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems commonly operating at 600 volts or less.
• Ability to troubleshoot single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
• Ability to use multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and other electrical test equipment.
• Ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
• Understanding of electrical safety, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Ability to communicate clearly and complete written and electronic documentation.
• Valid driver’s license, when required by the site.

• Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship or technical training program.
• State or local electrical license, if required for the work performed.
• Industrial electrical or electrical maintenance certification.
• NFPA 70E training.
• Experience with variable-frequency drives, motor controls, programmable logic controller inputs and outputs, and basic instrumentation.
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system.
• OSHA 10- or OSHA 30-hour training.

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach.
• Work from ladders, platforms, and approved elevated work surfaces.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with assistance when required.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Work around operating equipment, noise, dust, and other industrial conditions.
• Wear required personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, safety-toe footwear, and arc-rated clothing when applicable.
• Work scheduled overtime, weekends, callouts, or alternate shifts as operational needs require.

Assignments may include production areas, mechanical rooms, warehouses, offices, utility spaces, and exterior facility locations.
