The Orchard Park campus of Bryant & Stratton College is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach PTAP 245: Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation in the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program. This position includes teaching one course during the Fall Term (September–December) Lecture 2 hours/week, Lab 3 hours/week.
PTAP 245: Orthopedics and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation examines specialized rehabilitation techniques for individuals with orthopedic conditions and musculoskeletal dysfunction resulting from injury or surgical intervention. Emphasis is placed on the safe and effective use of assistive, supportive, and protective devices throughout the rehabilitation process. Topics include orthotics, prosthetics, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids commonly used during gait training and activities of daily living. Students are introduced to appropriate exercise interventions with consideration for clinical indications, precautions, contraindications, and treatment modifications based on patient response and safety considerations.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Serve as the lead instructor for lecture and laboratory components of PTA coursework.
- →Facilitate student learning and progression in achieving both theoretical knowledge and clinical performance competencies.
- →Develop relevant, evidence-based instructional materials that support student learning outcomes and national accreditation standards.
- →Deliver engaging classroom and laboratory instruction that reflects current best practices in orthopedic and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
- →Assess student performance using fair, consistent, and rigorous evaluation methods.
- →Maintain a classroom environment that supports professionalism, inclusion, collaboration, and student success.
- →Provide timely communication, feedback, and academic support to students.
- →Participate in continuous professional development and demonstrate commitment to lifelong learning.
- →Collaborate effectively with PTA faculty and staff to support program quality and student achievement.
Requirements
~1 min read- Master’s degree or higher required; degree in Physical Therapy or related field preferred.
- Current New York State PT or PTA license required.
- Strong clinical background in orthopedics and musculoskeletal rehabilitation required.
- Teaching experience at the high school, college, or clinical education level preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively instruct and evaluate student learning and laboratory performance.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, curriculum enhancement, and student-centered instruction.
- Ability to build meaningful and positive connections with a diverse student population in a career college environment.
Demonstrated commitment to continuous curriculum enhancement and application of best practices.
Salary: $55 to $65 per contact hour. Generally, courses range between 15 to 45 contact hours so the salary range for this exempt position would be between $825.00 - $2,925.00.
