Job Summary:
The testing proctor oversees the administration of standardized exams. The role is strictly focused on maintaining test security, enforcing college and third party rules and expectations, and preventing academic dishonesty. The proctor ensures every exam is given under fair, controlled, and quiet conditions, while handling all security checks, continuous room monitoring, and continuous communication with Testing Coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check photo IDs and ensure all personal items are removed prior to entering testing space.
- Inspect testing space to ensure unauthorized devices, notes, and phones are removed.
- Clearly inform test takers of exam rules and time limits.
- Walk the room regularly to actively watch for unauthorized communication, or suspicious behavior.
- Report any and all violations to Testing Coordinator immediately without causing unnecessary disruption for other testers.
- Keep track of test start and stop times strictly to make sure no students receive extra time.
- Account for all scrap paper and supplies before allowing testers to leave testing space.
- Write clear, accurate, and detailed incident reports immediately when a rule is broken or a technical issue occurs.
- Ensure testing space, tables, and materials are locked and secured.
- Abide by ADA expectations as assigned for each tester, without impacting test security or rules.
- This is a part time, in person position.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to complete proctor certifications as needed
- Preferred: prior experience proctoring exams at a college or professional testing center.
- Preferred: Experience handling conflict and enforcing strict rules in public setting
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Walking quietly through testing room for extended periods
- Maintaining security for long stretches without losing focus
- Quiet, highly regulated environment with clear expectations that must be enforced at all times.
Salary:
$18.00 per hour
This position is not eligible for overtime.
