- Proven experience working with steel plate processing, laser cutting, profiling, fabrication or similar manufacturing processes.
- Strong practical knowledge of steel grades, plate specifications, thicknesses, dimensions and applications.
- Proven experience producing accurate technical, manufacturing and production drawings.
- Experience with nesting and material optimisation, with a focus on minimising scrap and offcuts.
- Experience in costing, estimating and preparing quotations from technical drawings and customer specifications.
- Experience dealing directly with customers and interpreting their technical requirements.
- Ability to read, interpret and work from customer drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience working closely with Sales, Production and Planning teams.
- Experience using ERP and/or production management systems.
- Practical working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Produce accurate technical and manufacturing drawings in accordance with customer requirements and production capabilities.
- →Engage directly with customers to understand and clarify technical requirements, drawings, specifications and revisions.
- →Interpret customer drawings and specifications and determine appropriate material, processing and production requirements.
- →Prepare accurate costings and quotations for customers and internal Sales teams.
- →Develop and optimise nesting layouts to maximise material utilisation and minimise scrap and offcuts.
- →Provide accurate, production-ready drawings and nesting information to Production Planning and machine operators.
- →Review drawings for dimensions, tolerances, material requirements, manufacturability and potential production issues.
- →Liaise with Sales, Production and Planning to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and efficiently converted into production.
- →Manage drawing revisions and ensure the correct revision and supporting information are issued.
- →Ensure customer enquiries, drawings and quotations are processed accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
- →Provide technical support to the Sales team and assist in developing commercially viable solutions for customers.
- →Identify opportunities to improve material utilisation, costing accuracy, drawing processes and production efficiency.
- →Maintain accurate system information and documentation in accordance with company procedures and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
- →Take ownership of technical enquiries from initial customer requirement through to quotation and production handover.
Requirements
~1 min read- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Relevant Draughting qualification, certificate or diploma will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Proficient in:
- AutoCAD
- SipNEST
- Autodesk Inventor
- Experience with E-Track or similar ERP / production management systems will be advantageous.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience will be advantageous.
- Strong ability to interpret technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Strong understanding of steel plate, grades, thicknesses and applications.
- Understanding of laser cutting, profiling and associated manufacturing processes.
- Ability to perform accurate costing and quotation calculations.
- Valid driver's licence
Manage enquiries, drawings and quotations with a strong sense of urgency, ensuring agreed turnaround times are consistently achieved.
Ensure all drawings are accurate, complete, production-ready and aligned with customer specifications and manufacturing requirements.
Deliver accurate and timeous costings and quotations, ensuring that material, processing, nesting, scrap and other relevant costs are appropriately considered.
Optimise nesting and material utilisation to minimise scrap and offcuts while maintaining production requirements and product quality.
Provide professional and technically sound support to customers, understand their requirements and convert enquiries into accurate, commercially viable quotations.
Maintain accurate drawings, revisions, quotations and system information while adhering to company procedures and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve drawing accuracy, material utilisation, costing, turnaround times and overall operational efficiency.
The position is responsible for providing technically accurate drafting, nesting, costing and quotation solutions from customer enquiry through to production. The successful candidate will engage directly with customers on technical requirements, prepare production-ready drawings, optimise material utilisation and ensure commercially viable solutions are delivered accurately and timeously in collaboration with Sales, Production and Planning.
