BTIG is seeking a Capital Markets Operations Associate / Vice President focused on account onboarding and account lifecycle management. This role is responsible for end-to-end onboarding and opening of DVP (Delivery versus Payment) and Cash-Custody accounts across multiple clearing firms, ongoing account maintenance, and broader administrative workflows that support Capital Markets coverage and governance.

The position requires strong operational execution, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate across internal stakeholders (Sales, Trading, Syndicate, Capital Markets, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Finance, Technology) and external clearing firms to ensure accounts are opened and maintained accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with firm policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage broader administrative and control processes supporting account governance, including the CRM account coverage approval process:
    • Intake and validation of coverage requests
    • Routing for approvals consistent with firm policy
    • Documenting outcomes and ensuring accurate CRM updates
  • Support periodic reviews, data quality initiatives, and operational documentation/procedures tied to account lifecycle governance.
  • Manage end-to-end onboarding for institutional and corporate clients from intake through account activation and post-opening validation.
  • Open and establish DVP and Cash-Custody accounts across multiple clearing firms, including coordinating requirements, forms, and clearing firm-specific processes.
  • Own the NIGO resolution process: identify documentation gaps, communicate requirements to stakeholders, and drive timely completion.
  • Validate and ensure accuracy of account data and setup parameters (e.g., legal entity name, tax status, addresses, authorized contacts/signers, and settlement instructions/SSIs).
  • Maintain clear onboarding documentation, checklists, and audit-ready records aligned with internal policy and control expectations.
  • Perform ongoing account maintenance, including:
    • Refreshing documentation (periodic and event-driven updates)
    • Name and address changes and related data updates
    • Updates to authorized contacts/signatories, account attributes, and settlement details as needed
  • Ensure all maintenance requests are properly approved, documented, and updated across internal systems and clearing firm platforms, as applicable.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for time-sensitive account issues impacting trading, settlement, or client experience.
  • Manage month-end statement delivery requests, including changes to recipients, delivery method, and statement access troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with clearing firms and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely statement delivery and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate and track corporate account-related items, partnering closely with Legal and Compliance on request intake, documentation, and execution readiness.
  • Support operational requirements connected to ATMs (at-the-market programs) and issuer buybacks, including account setup readiness, process coordination, and recordkeeping in line with internal policy and required approvals.
  • Ensure adherence to firm policies, clearing firm requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Identify operational risks (e.g., inaccurate SSIs, incomplete documentation, unauthorized changes, statement delivery errors) and escalate appropriately.
  • Track and report onboarding volumes, cycle times, NIGO trends, and service performance; recommend improvements to reduce friction and improve controls.
  • (VP-level) Drive enhancements to onboarding/maintenance workflows, standardization across clearing firms, and training/mentoring of junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in capital markets operations, client onboarding/new accounts, account services, or clearing firm/custody-related operational roles.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, time-sensitive workflows.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including comfort interacting with Legal, Compliance, Sales, Trading, and external clearing firm contacts.
  • High level of ownership, sound judgment, and a strong control mindset.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience opening and maintaining DVP and/or Cash-Custody accounts.
  • Experience working across multiple clearing firms and navigating clearing firm onboarding portals/processes.
  • Familiarity supporting operational workflows tied to corporate programs (e.g., ATMs and issuer buybacks) in partnership with control functions.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working across CRM and internal account master / workflow tools.
  • Client onboarding and documentation management

What We Offer

BTIG offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Salary range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, years of applicable experience, skills, qualifications, licensure and certifications, and other business and organization needs.
The current estimated base salary range for this role is $170,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year. Please note that certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus or overtime.
