Gate Guard Yard/Warehouse

PURPOSE   Guards entrance gate of industrial plant and grounds, warehouse, or other property to control traffic to and from buildings and grounds.  Ensures accuracy of merchandise leaving gate by comparing the invoice to the materials being removed.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   Opens gate to allow entrance or exit of employees, truckers, and authorized visitors. Checks credentials or approved roster before admitting anyone. Issues passes at own discretion or on instructions from superiors. Directs visitors and truckers to various parts of grounds or buildings. Inspects outgoing traffic to prevent unauthorized removal of company property or products. Checks the accuracy of merchandise as reflected on the invoices, counting each item.                       Directs customers as to how to resolve errors when merchandise does not match invoice. Maintains daily paperwork in accordance with procedures. Writes credits for merchandise being returned. Assists customers with loading merchandise located in the general area of gate. Writes hand-written invoices for express gate checkout. Keeps area neat and orderly.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   This job has no supervisory responsibilities.   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
