Job Overview

The Production Supervisor plays a key role in executing assigned Production tasks. This includes planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for processing Extended Shelf Life (ESL) products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meets all production operational plans to ensure goals and efficiency requirements are met.
  • Monitors conditions that have or will adversely affect production lines including interruption of plant utility service and brings to the attention of senior shift leadership.
  • Monitor the status of production lines.  Assess current vs planned status of production output.  Coordinate maintenance activities as necessary to eliminate delays/interruptions/stoppages.
  • Ensure all required documentation is thoroughly completed, signed off and properly filled out/legible.
  • Notify others of mechanical malfunctions to increase productivity and equipment capabilities and begin to identify areas where operators can assist in resolving concerns.
  • Responsible for complying with GMP’s, SOP’s, corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Communicates effectively between shifts and other departments – verbally and in writing.
  • Communicate with the plant leadership on any potential or existing problems that could adversely affect the production schedule or customer satisfaction.
  • Covers breaks and lunches and other staffing needs as assigned by their supervisor/manager.
  • Compliant with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety reports concerns appropriately.
  • Oversees training of production personnel on production equipment, protocol, and systems.
  • Audit the work of production personnel to ensure accuracy, quality and work completed in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in interviewing and selection process of production team; responsible for timely and engaging performance evaluations; administering appropriate corrective actions as pre-approved by HR.
  • Assist management with employee developmental plans, documents, and administrators, in order to ensure a department that sustains a customer focus, flexibility and strong business acumen.
  • Develops new ideas and methods to improve operational performance and improve product quality and customer reliability.
  • Supervise production team by leading by example to gain trust and integrity and handle employee inquiries and solve problems while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Assist and support all areas in the production facility as assigned by supervisor and trains and build competence of staff on key areas on manufacturing floor.
  • Compliant with all legal requirements concerning dairy processing and safety on their assigned shift and reports concerns. 

Min. Qualifications

  • Minimum GED or High School Diploma is required, associate or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years direct manufacturing experience; dairy industry experience preferred.
