Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire

Schedule: Hours alternate weekly between 36 hours and 48 hours.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 (depending on experience)


Hours: Day Shift - 6:45am - 7:00pm | Night Shift - 6:45pm - 7:00am

 


Position Summary
The Mechelec Technician supports plant operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both mechanical and electrical systems to ensure continuous production and minimal downtime. This is a hands-on industrial maintenance role working with automated production lines, extrusion equipment, and electrical control systems.

Mechanical Responsibilities
The technician will maintain and repair production equipment such as extrusion lines, conveyors and rollers, and motors, pumps, and gearboxes. This includes performing preventative and predictive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical failures and implementing corrective actions, and installing and aligning new equipment and components.

Electrical Responsibilities
The technician will troubleshoot electrical systems including control panels, sensors and instrumentation, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This role requires reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, assisting with PLC troubleshooting and system monitoring, and repairing and installing electrical components and wiring.

Production Support Duties
The technician will observe equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize production downtime. This role supports continuous improvement initiatives and requires working closely with operators, engineers, and supervisors.

Safety and Compliance
The technician must follow OSHA and plant safety standards at all times, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures. This role requires maintaining clean and safe work areas and ensuring equipment meets operational and environmental standards.

Required Qualifications
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, with technical certification preferred. Candidates must have 2 or more years of industrial maintenance experience covering both mechanical and electrical systems. Experience in a manufacturing environment is required, with experience in fiber optics, plastics, or extrusion preferred. Basic PLC knowledge is required, with Allen-Bradley or similar experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies
Candidates should have strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical and electrical systems, the ability to read blueprints and schematics, and a preventative maintenance mindset. Candidates should be team-oriented with strong communication skills and able to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and to stand, bend, climb, and work around machinery. Candidates must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and heat.
