About the Role
~1 min readAs a Credit Analyst, you’ll play an important role in helping ATCO manage credit and liquidity risk across our diverse business units. Working in a highly confidential environment, you’ll bring curiosity, sound judgment, and analytical insight into credit risk adjudication, exposure monitoring, collateral and security management, and routine and ad hoc reporting. This is an opportunity to build strong relationships across the business, support informed decision-making, and contribute thoughtful recommendations that help protect ATCO’s operations and long-term success.
Responsibilities
~1 min read• Accountable for the maintenance of high-quality credit files and performance of credit analysis on new and existing counterparties to provide recommendations on credit limits and internal credit ratings (based upon financial statement analysis with credit rating reports and market data) in accordance with ATCO’s Credit Policy.
• Monitor credit exposures against approved limits and escalate breaches with recommendations for risk mitigation where appropriate.
• Manage changes in financial assurances (held and issued) in the form of Guarantees, Letters of Credit, Cash Deposits, etc.
• Perform daily exposure assessment and reconciliation activities that may include validation of margin calls, recommend credit terms, and the coordination of financial assurances.
• Perform reporting functions of the department, including daily, weekly, or monthly reports and Credit Committee reports
• Liaison with business units on reported information, new projects and counterparties, and review and resolve inconsistencies within their data
• Ensuring accurate processing and filing of original documents
• Provide support to related internal customers from Treasury to Capital Markets and External Disclosures
• Networking with external customers and credit colleagues to build relationships and understand best practices in the credit industry
• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
• Commitment to continuing education and/or acquiring designations (such as a CFA or FRM)
• Exposure to financial analysis, whether gained through academic studies, professional experience, or a combination of both
• Direct credit experience as it relates to energy or construction would be an asset
• Proficiency in data management and MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Power BI
• Communicates clearly and professionally across written and verbal interactions
• Responds effectively to time-sensitive requests while maintaining accuracy and follow-through
• Approaches challenges thoughtfully and brings practical solutions forward
• Balances competing priorities while producing accurate, detail-oriented work
• Works well with others while taking ownership of independent responsibilities
