Children’s Advocacy Alliance is always seeking great community members to service on its Board of Trustees. CAA is looking for professionals who want to assist the mission to be an independent voice for Nevada children advancing systemic change in the areas of early childhood education, children's health, and child welfare. We want influential individuals who can fill specific areas of expertise, as well as represent the diverse demographics of our state and the children we serve, open doors, and raise funds for the organization.

Board Member Description and Expectations
Board Members are critical to the effectiveness of the Children’s Advocacy Alliance, both as advocates for the children our organization represents and stewards of the organization’s resources. Children’s Advocacy Alliance Board of Trustees provides oversight and assures the organization remains focused on its mission while remaining consistent and in compliance with the organization’s Bylaws. The role and responsibility of the Board is to -
- Promote and implement the mission of the organization
- Serve as an asker, advocate or ambassador for the organization to generate various forms of organizational support, including the recruitment of new Board and Committee Members and generating financial support by: Participating in organization sponsored events and activities; Actively promoting the purpose of organization through effective communication with the network, public, press, legislative bodies, and other organizations as appropriate; Contributing to fundraising efforts with personally meaningful gifts, which include donation of time, money and/or in-kind; Identifying and contacting, when requested, potential funders at the individual, corporate, and foundation levels to assist in ensuring the financial support of organization’s mission and vision
- Keeping informed on current issues and trends affecting children
- Oversight of organization operational activities, including:
- Support and annually evaluate the Executive Director
- Establish and regularly review organization goals and objectives
- Develop, implement, and monitor the Strategic Plan
- Act as fiduciary in approving and monitoring the operating budget and ensuring that all fiscal/control policies are adhered to
- Act as the Governing body in approving policies and procedures
- Assure compliance with all local, state, and national laws
- Conduct an annual self-evaluation
- Elect officers
- Fulfill other duties as provided by the Bylaws and Policies of the organization
- Attend and participate in meetings by attending at least 80% of Board Meetings and the Annual in-person Board Retreat
- Actively participating on at least one standing Board Committee
- Arriving at meetings on time, well prepared and ready to engage in thoughtful and professional dialogue
- Being available for ongoing Board training
- Serve a minimum of two-year term
