About the Role

Step into a key executive leadership role and help shape the future of medical services at Calvary Mater Newcastle. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Medical Services provides executive leadership and strategic oversight of medical services, medical workforce management, research and medical administration across the organisation.

As a member of the Executive Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred clinical services while fostering excellence in patient care and supporting a high-performing medical workforce. Working collaboratively with the Director of Nursing and Clinical Services and the Director of Allied Health, you will contribute to organisation-wide clinical leadership, governance and service development initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical leader to drive clinical excellence, workforce development, research, innovation and continuous improvement while contributing to the strategic direction of Calvary Mater Newcastle.

About you

Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (FRACMA), specialist recognition under the Staff Specialists Award, or progress towards FRACMA and/or relevant postgraduate qualifications
Demonstrated senior or executive management experience within a complex healthcare environment
Extensive experience in strategic planning, medical administration, medical workforce management and clinical governance
Proven experience leading quality assurance, patient safety and clinical excellence programs
Demonstrated expertise in managing medico-legal matters and professional practice issues
Exceptional communication, consultation, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across health services, universities, professional colleges and regulatory bodies
A commitment to person-centred care, continuous improvement and healthcare innovation
A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation
