1.    Assess, plan, develop, implement, evaluate and revise education programs to meet the clinical needs of clinical staff or to comply with federal, state, regulatory or organizational policy.
2.     Identifies and recommends department specific content for learning modules and unit specific policies and procedures including focus on nursing staff who are new to the organization. 
3.    Maintains current knowledge of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory standards for assigned unit and participates in regulatory inspections.
4.    Serves as a planner for continuing education programs for nurses and other disciplines when indicated according to established guidelines. 
5.    Participates in continuing education activities as a subject matter expert.
6.    Demonstrates professional leadership in nursing practice, concepts, principles and interventions.
7.    Conducts and manages multiple educational programs for varied audiences while adhering to a high standard of customer service.
8.    Collaborates with organization leadership and multidisciplinary departments to ensure ongoing educational needs are met.
9.    Develops strategies and processes to support education systems.
10.    Provides clinical instruction to staff for competency development.
11.    Provides orientation to new clinical and transition staff.
12.    Develops and implements performance improvement plans in collaboration with nursing leadership when needed.  Collaborates with nursing leadership to assess clinical competencies to assigned personnel.  
13.    Evaluates staff performance as well as assist in the development of remedial employees as requested by leadership.
14.    Participates in quality patient care indicators. 
15.    Adheres to all patient safety and blood & body fluid precautions.
16.    Maintains and updates department specific competencies.
17.    Provides guidance and recommendations on curricula and learning systems.
18.    Exemplifies a high standard of customer service.
19.    Participates as well as plans activities that further professional growth for self and other clinical staff.
20.    Responsible for maintaining an advanced understanding of departmental and healthcare system.
21.    Demonstrates proficiency and serves as a resource in Computerized Nursing Informatics 
22.    Engages in projects and other functions upon request.
23.    Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.
24.    Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.

Critical Care Educator Additional duties and responsibilities (job code: 10852):
1.    Conduct unit-specific clinical audits to assess compliance with evidence-based standards, identify knowledge gaps and educational opportunities, and develop targeted learning initiatives to support best practice.
2.    Updates specific department content for learning modules
3.    Participates and assesses unit specific PI initiatives
 

·    A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)  
·    (RN) - Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
·    (BLS) - Current Basic Life Support certification
·    3 years recent acute healthcare nursing experience 
·    Experience in assigned clinical area required
·    Experience and proficiency using electronic medical record 
·    Maintain certifications appropriate to assigned clinical areas
·    (Preferred) – Clinical Education experience 
·    (Preferred) – A Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Critical Care Area:
•    CCHC Basic Arrythmia Exam (pass prior to start date)
•    (ACLS) – Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
•    3 years recent Critical Care experience 
•    (Preferred) – CCRN
•    (Preferred) – Procedural Sedation experience 
•    (Preferred) – Neuro experience
