Mechanical Engineer

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

1. Reviews office project mechanical deliverables to ensure client's requirements are satisfied and Office design standards are met.

2. Develops specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of a complex project of moderate size.

3. Reviews vendor equipment selections for unitary and component level equipment to be used in the system to assure compliance with specifications, code and requirements of the project.

4. Consults with construction personnel concerning design constructability as related to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling of construction activities.

5. Produces drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet project: scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements.

6. Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with other engineers who assist with particular projects.

7. Responsible for keeping current on new mechanical products and must be able to judge their suitability for specific uses. Should compile and communicate with said product representatives on a regular basis.

8. May plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of lower-level engineers who assist with particular projects.

Qualifications and Experience 

Requires a 4-year mechanical engineering degree and typically 15+ years’ related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). Professional registration is required at this level. Incumbent must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
