Director, National Estate and Planned Giving

The Director, National Estate and Planned Giving collaborates on the strategic leadership, direction and management for ADL’s planned giving program and related campaigns with a focus on growing the program for ADL’s future sustainability. ADL’s Planned Giving program includes gifts through bequests, charitable gift annuities, trusts, retirement plans, and similar complex giving vehicles that require specialized financial planning. The Director leads a team of Planned Giving officers and support staff, and collaborates closely with colleagues in major gifts, marketing, and direct mail fundraising, as well as fundraising staff in each of our twenty-four regions across the U.S.

• →Experience managing a team, executing strategy and driving results; 
• →Working knowledge of estate, gift, and income tax law with the ability to clearly articulate PG prospects, PG society members, and fundraising colleagues. 
• →A passion for continuous learning, teaching and coaching; 
• →Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, research, and presentation; 
• →Attention to detail, strong project management skills and ability to manage and meet simultaneous deadlines; 
• →Customer service orientation and a professional demeanor necessary; 
• →Technical competence required. Working familiarity and comfort in database systems, reporting, and analysis essential and comfort learning new technology; 
• →Strong interest in ADL’s mission. 

• The ideal candidate has a decade or more experience in development or similar sales-related profession, with significant demonstrable years in planned giving or a closely related field such as estate planning or fundraising with an emphasis on planned giving activities and a proven history of success in working cross departmentally to set strategy, execute plans, and achieve long-term and annual goals. 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required. 
• Advanced degree preferred. 

• Some travel is required (10-15 percent).  
• ADL is a hybrid environment; this role requires 3 days in the office.
