Reporting to Manager - Supply Chain,  the Superintendent – Contracts will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of contract management, including pre-contract (sourcing, RFI, RFP, negotiation) and post-execution, ensuring compliance with legal and organizational requirements, and contributing to the successful execution of projects.

  • Minimum of 5–7 years in contract management, with at least 3 years in the mining industry.
  • Proven track record overseeing contracts for operational phases (e.g., extraction, processing, or equipment maintenance) in a producing mine.
    • Deep understanding of mining-specific contracts, including terms for heavy equipment (e.g., haul trucks, drills), service agreements (e.g., blasting, maintenance), and labor outsourcing.
    • Familiarity with cost structures like cost-per-tonne or cost-per-meter-drilled.
    • Working knowledge of Canadian mining regulations, such as:
      • The Mining Act (provincial variations, e.g., Ontario).
      • Federal environmental standards (e.g., Fisheries Act).
      • Safety frameworks (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act or provincial equivalents).
    • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, law, or a related field.
    • A diploma in contract management may substitute with sufficient experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written skills, with experience drafting reports and presenting to stakeholders (e.g., mine managers, regulators).
    • Comfortable working with diverse groups, including remote site personnel and corporate offices.
    • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, safety-critical environment.
    • Resilience in handling operational pressures like production delays or equipment breakdowns.
