Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Operate threat detection systems in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- →Serve as a year-round resource for the Seasonal Security team, guiding screening protocols and guest interactions.
- →Respond to escalated situations at the Guest Entry Security Pavilion, including guest complaints and screening concerns.
- Summon and direct emergency vehicles; perform crowd control when needed.
- Actively participate in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and pass annual ERP testing.
- Provide assistance in emergencies, including first aid, lost children, theft, and unusual incidents.
- Escort special guests and vendor vehicles as needed.
- Lock and unlock doors and gates for staff.
- Ensure professional communication on all park radio systems.
- Always maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Uphold and promote the mission of the Columbus Zoo Family of Parks (CZFP).
- Implement sustainable practices in daily tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass annual criminal background checks and comply with the CZFP drug-free workplace policy.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to remain alert and exercise sound judgment in all situations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1 year of security or related experience required.
- Preferred: 2–4 years of law enforcement, military, or relevant experience; or a two- or four-year degree in a related field.
- First Aid, CPR, ERT, and AED certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide excellent guest service and maintain positive interactions.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively with CZFP team members.
