The Career Development & Financial Literacy Coordinator provides collaborative leadership toward strategic objectives within CVTC’s mission to prepare career ready graduates that add value to our communities and demonstrate current employability skills. This position ensures strategically designed programming to support career development through collaborative partnerships with academic programs and with employers within the community to prepare students for academic and career success by utilizing a best-practice model of student development.  This position leads efforts to equip students with the knowledge and skills to navigate financial decision making, budgeting skills, and grow their financial literacy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • →Serve as a key resource for the Career Development team by providing peer guidance, sharing knowledge and resources, and supporting day-to-day decision-making to help ensure programs, services, and initiatives are delivered effectively and aligned with departmental objectives and student success goals.
  • →Work with the Career Development team through a collaborative, cross-functional approach that advances student engagement and strengthens partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • →Advance College efforts to embed career pathways, career exploration, financial wellness, and economic mobility outcomes into the student journey.
  • →Develop and lead a dynamic and comprehensive vision for career development and financial literacy across the student lifecycle.
  • →Ensures robust, creative, inclusive, and engaging opportunities for students to increase their professional networks and career competencies.
  • →Coordinate campus-wide infrastructure to ensure support of undecided students in career and return on investment of education through ongoing collaboration with recruitment, enrollment, advising, and program directors across the College.
  • →Facilitate training and engagement across the College on career development topics, initiatives, and activities to ensure equitable practices within divisions of the College.
  • →Partner with Career Services, Academic Advising, Career Planning, and Recruitment teams to coordinate and support training and development programs for team members engaged throughout the student lifecycle.
  • →Collaborate with campus stakeholders to advance durable employability skills for students in alignment with the Career Readiness Pathway and College Core Abilities.
  • →Ensure students have access to meaningful career planning opportunities throughout their academic journey, with a targeted focus on pre-core and transfer students.
  • →Provide intentional, early engagement with pre-core students to strengthen career awareness, clarify program alignment, and increase early participation in academic and career planning.
  • →Maintain comprehensive career services (e.g. career readiness milestones, ongoing training, interview preparation skills, etc.) to foster career ready graduates.
  • →Develop and maintain partnerships with academic programs, business, and industry stakeholders to create, expand, and evaluate internship opportunities that align with career pathways, workforce needs, and student goals, while supporting student career growth through employer engagement, advisory committee participation, and collaboration with organizations that offer internship experiences.
  • →Collaborate and work closely with internal stakeholders to build a network of alumni for internship engagement, promote workforce readiness, and help students successfully transition into the workforce.
  • →Establish a vision for internship support and resources through the Career Services team to foster inclusive access to internship opportunities.
  • →Develop and strengthen workforce partnerships to enhance experiential learning, improve employment outcomes, and support employer satisfaction.
  • →Maintain and support career services technology platforms to enhance student engagement and program delivery.
  • →Support and train students and employees on technology utilization and resources to enhance career programs and services ensuring alignment with institutional goals, student engagement strategies, and workforce readiness outcomes.
  • →Chair the Career Development work group at the College.
  • →Support Institutional Research with the collection and analysis of student job placement data.
  • →Research and stay informed in national, state, and local hiring practices, employment trends and other related issues (e.g. employment outcomes, advancement opportunities, and economic mobility awareness).
  • →Develop, present, and facilitate career development programming for a wide range of audiences.
  • →In coordination with the marketing team; develop and execute marketing and communication strategies that promote career development and financial literacy through multiple communication platforms.
  • →Represent Career Services at campus programs, events, in-class presentations, and other on and off-campus opportunities targeted at CVTC students and / or alumni.
  • →Provide leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of student financial literacy initiatives and programming.
  • →Coordinate and facilitate financial literacy programs, resources, workshops, and educational experiences in collaboration with campus and community partners.
  • →Identify emerging student financial needs and opportunities, using data, student feedback, and institutional priorities to inform and strengthen financial literacy programming.
  • →Support cost awareness and return of investment considerations into student pathway decision making.
  • →Support the monitoring of allocated student activity fees and grants budgets and contribute to the responsible stewardship of student-generated funds.
  • →Conduct regular assessment of student satisfaction and Core Ability and Student Journey learning outcomes to close student equity gaps and foster student success through career development and financial literacy programming.
  • →Ensure high customer satisfaction with career development and financial literacy programming.
  • →Assist with first year experience activities and commencement planning as required.
  • →Serve on College and WTCS committees and initiatives as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • →Ability to recognize personal biases, adapt to different cultural situations, and demonstrate a commitment to respectful interactions with persons of various ethnic, cultural, socio-economic, or educational backgrounds.
  • →Intermediate knowledge of and skills with technology including software programs for communication, data collection, and decision making including, but not limited to, Office 365 Suite.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Higher Education, or related field with a minimum of two years of related experience required; master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Leadership, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in career development; including experience administering career planning and career placement preferred.
  • Experience in financial literacy education preferred.
  • Post-secondary experience preferred.
