We are currently seeking a Thermal Sciences Associate for our Thermal Sciences Practice in London and Cambridge, UK. The role will be based in our London office and will involve frequent travel to our future Cambridge laboratory/office for laboratory and project work. This position will involve applying fundamental engineering and scientific techniques to real-world problems in failure analysis, risk mitigation, and product development. 

• Applying engineering principles to complex and unfamiliar real-world problems 

• Researching and parsing data from published literature 

• Analysing, interpreting, and synthesising complex technical data 

• Performing laboratory experiments, field investigations, and analytical modelling 

• Reviewing and understanding experiments and simulations performed by clients 

• Preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations for individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry 

• Working effectively on multidisciplinary teams while efficiently meeting project schedules and constraints 

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, or a related field 

• Strong practical and theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion 

• Demonstrated ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to complex and unfamiliar problems

• Hands-on experience in designing and executing experimental programmes, including instrumentation, data acquisition, and analysis

• Ability to evaluate technical literature, engineering documentation, and other sources of technical information 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams
