Requirements
~1 min read1. Possession of law enforcement certification from Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) in any State;
Currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course ( applicant must provide enrollment or acceptance letter from the Academy or ACCS);
2. Applicants possessing a State of Alabama POST Certification must be three (3) years or more past graduation date listed on APOST certificate;
3. Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit;
4. Ability to pass a thorough background check
Responsibilities
~2 min readAll candidates must provide a copy of their current POST certification or a copy of a current acceptance, enrollment, or welcome letter from the academy/ACCS confirming that the applicant is currently enrolled and attending an ACCS Pathway to APOST Certification Course. These documents must be electronically attached to your application. Applications lacking the appropriate documentation will not be forwarded to the Police Department for further evaluation. EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
Police Officer candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be further screened through our evaluation process, which considers related work experience, education, certifications and special training. Police Officer candidate finalists will then be evaluated based on personal interviews.
In order to be eligible for employment with the Hoover Police Department a candidate must successfully complete the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test. You can view the Physical Abilities/Agilities requirements at the following website - http://www.apostc.state.al.us. Go to Forms on the left side of the page then scroll to bottom of the page to access the Physical Agility Ability Course.
Candidates will be informed of the date, time and location of the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test at a later date and only after successful completion of an interview or interviews.
Due to the high volume of applications received, not all applicants will be selected for interviews and all that do interview are not guaranteed to be selected to participate in the Physical Agilities/Abilities Test.
